Belgium has increased the consular fee for long-stay return visas (Type D) to €335, effective September 1, 2026. This applies specifically to return visas — used by people who need to re-enter Belgium after their original long-stay visa has expired or been revoked, a category previously priced at €180.
The change follows an earlier fee hike on July 1, 2026, when standard long-stay visa (Type D) applications for study, work and family reunification rose from €180 to €250. That standard fee remains unchanged at €250; only the return-visa sub-category is affected by the latest increase.
Belgian authorities describe the adjustment as part of a broader effort to align consular fees with administrative costs. The new €335 fee applies globally at Belgian diplomatic posts and visa application centres, including TLScontact, for all return-visa applications submitted on or after September 1, 2026.
Short-stay Schengen visas (Type C) remain unchanged at €90 for adults. Applicants are advised to check with their local embassy or consulate for the exact fee in local currency.
